Praise God for this most blessed day, this Sunday before Ash Wednesday and a new time in God’s time to celebrate that special day, that awesome moment, that stupendous act when our Lord Jesus was transfigured from his earthly life to a transfigured body that He would have in glory.
He set the pattern for how the resurrected or translated life will be when we shall all be changed to be like Him!
Yes, there in the Gospels of Matthew (17:1-8), Mark (9:2-8), and Luke (9:28-36), and 2 Peter (1:16-18) about how Jesus took three disciples, Peter, James and John up to a high mountain, and there before their very eyes, His was transfigured: His face shone bright, His face and body was altered, and His cloths were white and glistering.as snow!
And next to Jesus there appeared two of the long dead prophets: Moses and Elijah in bodily form in glory. And they talked with Jesus about His upcoming suffering and death that would take place in Jerusalem, and that He would be resurrected on the third day. So why were Moses and Elijah there with Jesus for the disciples to see with their own eyes?
Because one, Moses, represented life after death (the resurrection), and the other, Elijah, did not die, but was translated into a glorified body and taken up to heaven by God. So it will be at the Rapture of the Church, believers in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. When we die, we “sleep” in Christ Jesus until we shall receive new bodies just Jesus has, for we shall be like Him and see Him face to Face.
Paul tells us how it’s going to happen in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18…
“But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethen, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.
Then we which are alive and remain shall be “caught up” (raptured) together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
Luke 9:35-36: “And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone.”
Jesus showed His three key disciples the future…what’s going to happen (perhaps soon?) to us, today, and our children and grandchildren and their children when we die or are alive when Jesus comes for us.
Therefore, I rejoice and believe and say it from my heart, with all my strength and with the blessings of God, to proclaim to all that this day, this most precious day we have seen a glimpse of our future in eternity with GOD, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
TRANSFIGURATION SUNDAY WHEN JESUS AND MOSES AND ELIJAH ON THE MOUNTAIN SHOWED THE FUTURE IN THE PLAN OF GOD.
Amen.
