Clouds

Several years ago a picture was taken of a cloud formation against the blue sky that looked like a human hand. Some said it was the hand of God.

According to the Holy Bible, there were no clouds in the sky until the time of Noah’s Flood-that’s about 1600 years or more since GOD created man-Adam.

Just as, I believe, God sends the thunder and lightening storms to get our attention of His mighty power in the weather, so likewise He forms the cloud patterns in the sky that we might look up and think of Him.

Think of the things above, both visible and invisibe, the things of GOD in heaven above, for our redemption draws near.

It was on a dark, cloudy day some 1,981 years ago, on a hill-side, on a hard, rough wooded cross, just outside Jerusalem of Judea that our Savior died.

And on the Mt. of Olives near Jerusalem on the Feast of Pentacost in 33 A.D., Jesus ascended up into the clouds and into Heaven. as is recorded in Acts 1:9-12 (RSV):

“And when He had said this, as they were looking on, He was lifted up, and a cloud took Him out of their sight.

And while they were gazing into heaven as He went, Behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw Him go into heaven.”

Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a sabbath day’s journey away:”‘

Paul, an Apostle to Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, left us these words of comfort and joy in the doctrine of the Rapture recorded in I Thessalonians 4:15-18:

“For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep.

For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God.

And the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord.

Therefore comfort one another with these words.”

Once the Rapture has happened, there will follow the 70th Week of the prophecy of Daniel, a seven year period of the wrath of GOD upon an unbelieveing earth. Seven years such as have never been, or ever be in all the history of mankind!

Then, at the end of this unprecedented event, the heavens will open and Christ the King with all His angels and saints will return riding on the clouds, and all the world will see His glory and power. This future great event in the clouds is recorded in the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ in chapter 19, verses 11-16:

“Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! He who sat upon it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.

His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name inscribed which no one knows but Himself. He is clad in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which He is called is the Word of God.

And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, followed Him on white horses.

From His mouth issues a sharp sword with which to smite the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; He will tread the wine press of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On His robe and on His thigh He has a name inscribed, King of kings and Lord of lords.”

Clouds; of them and in them the past and future prophecies concerning our Lord are recorded also in the Gospel according to Matthew, chapter 24, verses 29-30:

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the power of the heavens will be shaken.

Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”

And in the first chapter of the Revelation, verse 7, the Apostle John recorded:

“Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him.”

He is coming; first, for us, His saints, then with us in His mighty return to earth to rule for a thousand years.

Even so, come Lord Jesus.

Amen.
